Helping ensure safe food for all—You are warmly welcomed to visit the Mars Global Food Safety Center website

Despite what the world knows about food safety today, around one in ten people on our planet suffers from eating unsafe foods, greatly affecting their wellbeing (World Health Organization,2015). With growing awareness of this threat and new threats emerging all the time, action is now vital for a safe and sustainable future.

At Mars, we believe that industry has a crucial role to play in identifying food safety risks and creating solutions, working together with all stakeholders across the food supply to chain; this cannot be achieved by any one entity alone.

To that end, the Mars Global Food Safety Center (GFSC) is dedicated to fostering open collaborations and partnerships through food safety knowledge capture, generation and sharing. Our team of scientists, from some of the world's top academic institutions, are today striving to solve various food safety challenges together with our global partners, in order to help ensure safer food for all.

To further fuel our mission, we are pleased to share our new GFSC website: This platform aims to help us engage with the world, through sharing a wide spectrum of information – from scientific research updates, to resources for practical food safety training (both online and off-line).

We welcome you to explore some of the content on our site, including:

Research Updates:

Here we share our research updates and publications on food safety topics of critical importance including: pathogen management; raw material integrity; data integration; mycotoxin management; and applied and operational food safety management.

Training Resources and Notification:

This section provides you with our on-line training resources, as well as announcements about our off-line training activities. By introducing advanced, international training systems such as Food Safety Preventative Control for Human Food and Best Process Control School – through joint efforts of food safety experts – our training aims to increase understanding and capability for anyone interested in food safety management. If you register your interest in any off-line training, we will contact you before the program begins.

Diverse opinions can spark inspiration and spur new ideas. This section of our site shares insights about a broad range of food safety topics, from a diverse range of voices: from our own scientists, to experts from government, industry, academia, IGOs and NGOs.

GFSC Virtual Reality Tour:

Through this site, you can “visit” our laboratories – from anywhere in the world – see where our scientists work.

News and Cooperative Information:

We will regularly share news about our research and collaborations so please visit regularly to find out more about our work.

Lastly, we welcome your feedback about the website, suggestions for how to enhance the content, and any other queries – by contacting Jane Wang (

You can also join our knowledge sharing efforts! Whatever GFSC content you find meaningful, we would sincerely appreciate if you were to share it with your own colleagues, partners and friends.
